Research - Brand Identity [Part 1]

With Christina Aguilera as our chosen artist, we now have to look into what kind of a brand we wish to create for her. With her already being a signed artist, people are paid to create this brand, so Naomi and I plan to create something very different - relating to our video, but still trying to be quite loyal to her initial brand and style of music.

For this reason, we have chosen to do some research into acts of a similar style and genre as Christina.

Mariah Carey
With the upcoming release of her new album, 'Merry Christmas II You', Mariah is a perfect example of someone who has changed her brand several times, but kept her main identity. She has kept the same font for her name and album titles since her launch in 1990, showing the continuity and that she is still the same artists now that she was then. As you can see, both her website and her perfume poster use the same shades of colours, to enhance the brand even further. It shows she is a very natural person, and each image shows her relaxed and very down-to-earth. On the other hand, you have her new album cover, which is a Christmas album, and this shows some very similar aspects to her initial Christmas album, and also uses some holiday album staples - fake snow, snowmen, and a red and white costume - showing that she also loves the holiday season.

Even with each publication changing, we still know that it is Mariah Carey, and can pick up different elements of her brand within each item.
