THURSDAY 21ST OCTOBER 2010
On our third proposed day of shooting, we were finally able to shoot some footage. We took out two cameras, to enable us to get twice the amount of footage and shots as we would do normally, as we had missed several days of filming opportunities.
We used the school hall, and decided on lighting and ways in which to use some creative shots. Our first issue occurred when we discovered that all the chairs had been left out for an assembly the following morning, along with music stands, sheet music, benches, and stage blocks. This was to prove very difficult, but we managed to shoot what we could without these in shot.
We also found that Isobel found it very hard to convey emotion from the song. It became very difficult to try and make the audience believe what they were hearing within the song, which is the whole point of the music video. We took some time out to try and force this emotion, and will do the same tomorrow morning in preparation for the shoot tomorrow afternoon.
Lighting has been a big problem for all of the group, as the cameras are very poor in terms of filtering. We chose a different camera setting - 'Beach' - which gave us some very warm, rich colours coming from the stool, and dropping the exposure right down to add to the mood. Although this is not ideal, we felt we made the best decision we could with the resources available.
We also had to use fluorescent strip lighting instead of our chosen spotlight, as this was all we had available to us. We turned all the other lights off, and closed all the curtains, and although it was not our initial desired effect, it did work well.
We filmed an hour and a half of footage on both cameras, before being told to leave so that the school could be locked up. We will continue filming tomorrow.
